My Life Coach Fired Me!

Wait. What?

Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

And yet, it happened – You can watch Sheinelle Jones talk about it in the link below at the 2 minute mark:

Sheinelle shared how her Life Coach fired her because she was late and apparently Sheinelle was not doing her part. But then she talked about how she saw the value in her Coach and that she knew she would not be able to make the necessary changes without outside help.

I love the fact that she knew she still needed help.

You may be wondering why someone would need a life coach to help them be on time.

Well, it is more than just being late. But you already know that, right?

A Life Coach helps to get below the surface of “just being late” and to discover why you are always late.

  • What is taking up your time?

  • What are your priorities?

  • Your boundaries?

Each of us struggle with different things and for different reasons. I always say;

“If it were easy we would have already done it on our own.”

So how does it all work…this Life Coach thing?

Here are just 2 things to clarify:

1. Sometimes we need that objective person who can ask the right questions and then listen to see or hear what is really going on and help you to put a plan in place to work through it.

This is a professional relationship, so it can be hard. And it’s usually not fun. But if we want to be our best it will take some work. If it were easy, we would all be superstars at life.

2. Sometimes we just need help with one thing. Perhaps for a particular season of life, a project, a goal, a habit or a decision.

A Life Coach will not tell you what to do. Rather, they help lift the fog, show you the obstacles and clear the windshield, so that you can see your next step more clearly.

I don’t know all the details of this particular “firing” situation with Sheinelle, but I do see someone with open eyes, realizing she still needs help and she can’t do it on her own. That is the first step.

If I were a betting woman I would say she will be reunited with her coach very soon. Because at the end of the day, Life Coaches want to see their clients succeed.

This is the business of helping people win at life.  (And, to be honest, I cringe at the word “business”.)

We roll up our sleeves, get in the mess and help people move from where they are to where they want to be.
